K12 Outreach Program

A number of studies show that school age students (K-12) exposed to hands-on research-driven learning opportunities are more likely to develop an interest in learning about science, technology, engineering and mathematics. LONI provides several education programs focusing on training K-12 students and teachers on the biomedical challenges, computational advances and scientific visualization of brain imaging data. LONI organizes laboratory tours, training events and mentored research projects for K-12 students and provides learning experiences and professional development for teachers. Several current and former students mentored by LONI faculty have written research publications and competed at the annual California and the International Intel Science Competitions.

Contact LONI to organize a visit to our lab for fun and engaging session. In the past we have covered topics such as optical illusions, computational math and statistics, atlasing, neural imaging techniques, and brain health and disease.
