Installation into R slow - unable to compile R for SGI.
Tools demo postponed by Jyl
ShapeViewer -nogui option development time estimated as between 1/2 day and 2 days.

VirtualFileSystemBrowser
- requirements - priority 1 requirements discussed with Jeff.
- status
  - get and put files works for local filesystems, sFtp, and http
  - http directory listings reveals bugs in supporting packages.
  - directory listings otherwise ok.
  - other JFileChooser methods not yet implemented.
3D Shape Representation conversion toolbox
- Problem: Need a way to convert between various representations of shapes (Mesh geometry, binary volumes, signed distances, implicit functions,...)
- Much harder than corrosponding volume format problem due to greater variety of types of surfaces.
- some existing special case solutions. (Voxel-surface: marching cubes, mesh to distance func.
- need for more specifics in defining the problem.
- need to find a researcher (client) to guide implementations and solutions.

[X] Craig - Try to install rShape onto Loni IRIX computers
[X] Craig - explore installing ShapeTools accessible from within Matlab.
[X] Craig - Demo of InterpolateContour, ShapeViewer and ShapeDistance to select Loni staff.
