Project Summary: To develop the framework for efficient and robust representation of biological shape, form and size (e.g., cortical surfaces) using wavelet-based multi-resolution techniques
Additional Resources: The following web links contain some terrific attempts to represent shape using multiresolution methods. There are demos, pubs and source code that we can look at.
Research and find code/packages for multiresolution (wavelet) representation and manipulation of shapes/surfaces (e.g., http://nikopol0.alrj.org/geowave/).
Gerig 2001 SPHARM representation: Requires a (u,v) parametric shape description as input. Uses roughly Fourier base functions. Local shape changes propagate throughout the representation coefficients. Only works with Spherical topology!
