The needs of Mouse BIRN group from the BIRN project and infrastructure guides much of our work. How these wants and needs are expressed has evolved over time with differening levels of granularity depending on the stage of the work.

• The Mouse BIRN group started by generating use cases for what types of functionality they would like to have in the ideal Atlasing Tool. These can be found at the Atlasing use case page.
• Several biological researchers in the group presented use cases for their research so the group could get a better understanding of their workflows and needs. These were presented at the Mouse BIRN 2006 AHM
• The issues brought up by these use cases and the work necessary to fill these requests were put into a synopsis file
• The Mouse requests were eventually put into the context of a workflow diagram that shows most of our needs, Workflowneeds.pdf

The requirements of the Mouse BIRN group and the other BIRN testbeds is being reviewed by the BIRN Operations Committee and these compiled requirements are being used to develop priorities and allocate resources.
