Sulcal Line Drawing
Sulcal line drawing has traditionally been done using MNI’s Display, however newer tools in BrainSuite and Shapeviewer make the process easier & faster. The following pages developed in Dr. Sowell’s lab demonstrate a useful protocol for Surface & Medial line drawing. Importantly, the control lines no longer need to be drawn and not all sulci can be easily identified in every brain. A subset of the sulci that can be reliably drawn across all subjects in the data set should be identified and used. For example, the Superior Temporal Sulcus Ascending Branch (#2b) is difficult to reliably identify and thus often excluded.
